Day 120 Early Mother's Day mail

Today I got a surprise in the mail!

My beautiful little 4 year old niece Holly sent me a Mothers Day card.

I'm not really sure what it is but I was very happy to get the mail!

Thanks Holly :)

Day 119 Grilling time! Maybe?

We went and bought a new BBQ today!  I was sick of not being able to grill anything because our grill refuses to work properly.  See THIS post to see what I mean.    Bill was searching around trying to find one already put together since he HATES putting them together, no such luck though.    He got it home and went to put it together and found the english instructions were missing.  So he had to follow the instructions in french.....

I was a BIG help when it came to putting it together......taking pictures of him cursing  and playing with parts is helping right?

Okay so not so much of a help.....but hey I can't read french!   So I went and played with the kids.

Ty decided to jump on the trampoline,  don't ask where his other shoe is,  I have NO clue what happened to it.

Then Xander decided to help him out....but first had to show me what he can do!

Then since I had my camera out the boys let me take their picture.... Dylan as always gives a nice smile, Xander not so much.

Ty decided he wanted on the swing......only problem being that the baby swing was not on since the set only has room for one swing.   He looked so pathetic sitting there trying to swing that Xander went and got his baby swing for him.  What a good big brother he is!

Mean while.......Bill is still putting the BBQ togther with french instructions.

I would show you how it turned out but I wasn't staying out there that late waiting for him to finish!

Day 118 Why I don't Shop for Bill

I put my foot down * snicker*

He HAD to throw them out.

I mean who wears jeans after the have a tear half way up the leg and a whole in the knee?

Not to mention the fact that he has lost weight, gone down a pant size and they would fall to his knees as he walked if he didn't wear a belt.

I guess he finally listened and and I found this in the garbage.

So being the 'NICE' wife that I am I stopped in at the store and grabbed a couple pairs of jeans when I went to the grocery store last night.

I thought they were okay...  apparently he needs to try the jeans on before he buys them ( which is a miracle that he will actually do this now)

Neither pair fit.  He lost weight in his waist but I guess his ass is still the same size!  LOL

So back to the store they will go.  And this time he is coming with me to buy his own jeans!

Day 117 Wet but Fun!

Dylan received a Cars colour changer set for Easter.....though Nana was not too happy with this gift since it involves water and he spent Easter at her house!  LOL

Since then Ty has been trying to get this fun toy from him and I finally let him play with it while Dylan was at school.  SHHHH  don't tell Dylan since he is not to keen on sharing his new toys with his little brother.

Ty discovered that if you put the car into warm water it changes colour,  then squirt cold water on it and it changes back again!    This provided a good hour of entertainment for Tyler although my kitchen table and floor were soaked by the time he was done.   And so was he!

In other news.......I am finally calibrated!  Wow what a difference,  I had no idea my browser at the top was supposed to be greyish blue,  I always thought it was light blue almost white!     I can just imagine what some of my pictures have looked like since my monitor colour was so off!  Not like this going to improve my photography in any way but it can't hurt.  I think the only way my pictures will improve is to actually get out there and take some pictures!  I'm getting a little too comfortable with the same old snap shots of the kids and need to get out there.  Maybe tomorrow?

Day 116 I LOVE Martha Stewart

Yes I admit it.....

I have never made anything of hers before but these cupcakes I made are to die for!

Orange-Vanilla bean  cupcakes with Swiss Meringue buttercream frosting.

OMG.......SO good.

And Bill even had fun decorating them!

Notice he is even wearing his new glasses?

Ty had fun eating them

Then he thought it needed more frosting....

So I will never make fun of Martha Stewart again......her cupcake recipe rocks!

Day 115 What's for Lunch

Today I made the mistake of asking the boys what they wanted for lunch.  While I like to give them choices I should have phrased it slightly differently.  Maybe "would you like ______  or ____?"    but no I said what do you want for lunch.

Dylan asked for carrots and dip

Xander wanted cucumber

They both wanted crackers

Ty wanted cheese

And everybody wanted an apple

What ever happened to a soup and sandwich?

So I compromised and made life easy on myself....they got it all and it was self serve!

It worked well because 15 minutes later the cutting board was empty and the bellies were full :)

Day 114 Feed the Birds

Today I picked up a bird feeder at the dollar store to hang outside.  Xander is convinced we needed it so the birds would come and he could take pictures of them.  He has big plans to hide in the bush with his camera and wait for them to come eat.

He was disappointed when a half hour after hanging the bird feeder there were still no birds!  Patience is not one of his virtues.....

Day 113 Scaredy Squirrel and Captain Hook

It was Book Character dress up day at school today.  I went to Michael's craft store and bought some foam sheets and Bill made Dylan a fabulous Scaredy Squirrel costume!  Good thing at least one of us is crafty!  Dylan came home with a ribbon for winning the Most Original Costume for the school.  He got to go to the Gym and get his ribbon and picture taken.....not something he was too happy about since like Scaredy Squirrel he does NOT like to do new things.  He was very proud when he came home with a ribbon though :)

Day 112 circa 1983....

Last week we went to the used store to find pieces for the kids costumes for dress up day at school.  While we were there I went to the kitchen section and came across a Wilton cake pan that Xander jumped on as soon as he saw it.  A 1983 He-Man cake pan.  SCORE!!!  I had to search on the internet to find the instructions for it, and it is supposed to come with a face plate for He-Mans face.  Since it was my Brother-in-law that got Xander hooked on He-Man and his Birthday is coming up next week I made the cake for him to try it out before Xander's birthday in June.  By 11 pm when I finally got it almost done ( didn't start til 9) I had no desire to try and put a face on He-Man so I cut out the face plate picture I had and stuck it on!  LOL  So here it is  a birthday cake for Sam who is turning 30 on the 30th!  Just what he always wanted for his 30th birthday .......a kids He-Man cake!

Before I started the cake the boys took Gramma and Grandpa on a little walk in the back and I grabbed the camera to get a few pictures.  Ty wasn't exactly being cooperative and did NOT want to be held for a picture when there was lots of running in the bush to do.   But  a got a few good ones......but not till after this happened.

A quick trip back to the house to get something to clean him up and we were good to go again :)

Thanks for looking :)

Day 111 Bowling

Today the boys played hookey from school to spend some time with Gramma and Grandpa and went to Timmin's to go bowling.   They had never been bowling before and had a blast!  It was just 5 pin bowling so the balls were small and easy for all of them to play with. I started out bowling one frame to show them how and then Ty took all the rest of my game.  He even wore the little shoes!  We had a ramp for Dylan and Ty to use but Gramma and Xander bowled the real way.  I was setting the ramp up for both the boys but apparently I was doing a better job when it was Ty's turn because he won!  LOL

Ty is the top score followed by Gramma, Xander, then Dylan.

Xander bowled in an interesting way.....

Dylan took the easy way...

And Ty got mad because Gramma wouldn't let him push the ball till I got a picture!

And of course I had to take a picture of my sexy bowling shoes!

It was a good day,  boys had a great time, Bill went and got new glasses while we were bolwing and then we all came home and crashed after a nice dinner out :)

Day 110 Waiting for Gramma

The boys got home off the bus today and were outside waiting for Gramma and Grandpa to get here for a visit from North Carolina.  They went and played on the swing set and were all playing so nicely together and not arguing that I took the opportunity to grab the camera. I think they must have been being good since they didn't want to get in trouble before their grandparents arrived!  LOL

Thanks for looking :)

Day 109 Is it mud?

Xander went outside to play and came back in COVERED in what looked to be mud.  After we asked him where he was playing and found out he was in the back yard playing over top of the weeping bed.  While technically it is not raw sewage it's still kind of gross since the weeping bed is directly underneath all that mud which is why it's so rich and dark.  YUCK!

I'm still kind of grossed out looking at this but he was happy.  He went straight to the shower though!

Day 108 When I don't take my camera

I always see a moose.  Today we went to Timmin's and sure enough on the way home we see a cow and calf n the side of the road.  By the time I figured how to actually use my blackberry camera the calf was in the bush and I got a crappy picture of the mom.    I really need to start just using my camera bag as a purse :)

If you look REALLY close you can see the moose in there....I tried!

Day 107 Nothing at all

No picture today :(  I slept wrong on my shoulder and woke up to a very tight shoulder and arm.  By Noon I couldn't move.  It was a mess of tense spasming muscle and I could not lift my arm let alone pic up my camera.  I spent the day with heat and ice and muscle relaxers...the rest of the day is a blurr.

Day 106 Roll up the Rim to lose?

I think Tim Horton's should re-name Roll up the Rim to win to Roll up and lose.   Between Bill and I drinking at least 2 coffee's a day, more when he isn't at work, we won maybe 8 times....and have never won anything more than a coffee or doughnut.    It would have been really nice to win that Rav 4, I would have even settled for the net book!  Oh well, it is now over till the fall and I have nothing to show for it :(   Except an obscene amount of money spent on coffee......not like that will change now that it is over though ;)

Day 105 My Little Frog

Rain rain go away.......

Dylan actually wanted it to rain, he was itching to wear his new frog coat to school and with the snow last week he has not been able to.  He also got new spider rubber boots.  He was so proud when he put them on this morning to go to school :)   It's a little big but it will fit next year!

Day 104 Curious George

Ty has been watching the Curious George movie for almost a year now.  He LOVES it, it's one of the movies that he will sit down and watch from start to finish.   Both Xander and Dylan were the same way at that age and also watched it a lot.  Curious George 2 Follow that Monkey came out on video last month and yesterday i went and bought it for Ty.  We had not got him an Easter present since we had with us in Ottawa that weekend so that was my excuse...that and I was sick of watching the first one.

This morning I put the movie on for him after he saw the case and started pointing to the TV saying "monkey"  Seriously who can no to that?

So he sat all morning watching Curious George 2....I am sick of it all ready but he likes it :)

Thanks for looking :)

Day 103 {he does math like his mom}

I came to the realization tonight that Xander has inherited something from me that I would have preferred NOT to pass on.  His math skills.

I am horrible at math.  I still don't know my multiplication tables,  I have to add and subtract with my fingers most of the time, and as a whole.....I stink at anything to do with numbers.

I was watching Xander do his homework tonight and he was doing all his addition and subtraction using his fingers.....like mother like son I guess.  Hopefully he will figure out eventually how to do it with out using his hands, unlike me.
