Day 31 You want to take my picture?

*What's that mom?  You want to take my picture?*

*But  I am playing on a giant snow hill and its -30c outside.  I don't want to pose for you and face the right way in to the light.*

*It's okay that your fingers are getting frostbite trying to take a good picture,  I'm just going to make weird poses.*

Well THANK YOU oh son of mine.  it was worth it just to have this for blackmail when you go on your first date :)

Day 30 Hooch

Not much happening around here today.  I was up at 5:30 am to drive an hour to go for an MRI on my neck.  Scariest thing I have had to do in awhile.  Not because I was afraid of the results, but more of being stuffed into something the size of a small locker for half and hour!   That was a little unnerving.

So now I am exhausted and the kids are running around acting like little monsters.  Not that my perfect little angles would ever be bad......LOL  They are just rambunctious from being stuck in the house since its too cold to go play outside.

My picture for today is pretty boring.  This is my dog Hooch.  A friend suggested I take a picture of him since I had not done so yet.  Watch out tomorrow it may be a picture of my cat!  LOL

Day 29 Brotherly LOVE!

What can I say,  they LOVE each other...sometimes.

Week 4 in Review

I have gotten a little confused when it comes to the weekly review.  I can never figure out if it is from the Sunday to the next Saturday and then post on Saturday.  Or is it Saturday to the Friday?   Well from now on I am posting on Saturday the images from the Saturday through to Friday.  LOL  If it's not right oh well :)

So here is my week in review.

Day 22:  Cowboys

Day 23: Beer Stew

Day 24: Alphie

Day 25: A whopping -7!

Day 26: I love technology

Day 27: Balls and Droste  ( What was I thinking when I titled this post?   LOL)

Day 28  What to do with cut off seamless paper

I would also like to thank all the new people that have been stopping by in the past few weeks.  I attempted this project last year and made it to June.  I think with all this encouragement from others out there doing the same project, it will make it a lot easier.

If you are stopping by and not leaving a comment, just leave one.....then I can find you! Watching other peoples projects and ideas really help keep the creativity in the pictures instead of the same old ones everyday.

Day 28 What to do with cut off Seamless Paper

Do you ever feel bad having to cut off a strip on a roll of seamless paper?

I hate to do it......the stuff is not cheap
(at least for me since it costs too much to ship and I have to drive at least 4 hours to get a roll)

I had to part with a big piece after using it last week, it was getting dirty and had a tear.

I figured I would set it aside and find another use for it, especially since it was off my white roll.

Today I saw it sitting in the corner and thought hey Ty might like to use use that.

So we made use of it......one life size Tyler drawing coming up!

The novelty wore off about 10 minutes in.....Does anybody out there have a almost 3 year old who will colour for more than 10 minutes?

Don't judge my art skills.....I am not the artsy type!

But it was fun while it lasted.

Diet Coke

I was a little bored today.....

What happens when I get bored?

I take pictures and play with photoshop.

I think I need a hobby......oh wait this is my hobby!  LOL

Day 27* Balls and Droste

Today I went on the search to take a picture of something with a ball in it.  Why you may ask? I am doing a challenge from Mommytography's 365 challenge  I spy a Ball!

After searching around the house I realized I had some pretty cool balls right in my living room that I hadn't thought of.  My sister got me a basket full of decorative balls for Christmas!  Now I didn't remember about this till after I was wondering around searching for some and walked in on my son tearing apart these nice pretty balls.  Luckily I caught him in time before he destroyed all of them (one didn't survive).

So after putting him on a nice timeout for getting into them, I grabbed my camera.

Well I couldn't stop with just one.....so the above is my picture for the day and my entry for the I spy a Ball.  The next ones are just for fun.

I was also just reading a tutorial on how to achieve the Droste effect.  You can read about it HERE and download the Plug in's and Pixel bender.  I thought I would give it a try.

Here is the original picture

And here is what I did using the Droste Effect.

I love playing with photoshop :)

Day 26 I love technology

Not a good day for me today.  I woke up this morning and could not move.  I have been having neck problems for a few years and it is consistently getting worse.  I go for a MRI on Sunday to find out what the problem is (after waiting for 4 months to get in) and hopefully there will be a solution besides just taking pills.  The problem with the pills I am supposed to take? They knock me out flat on my behind for the day.

My day consisted of lying around not moving much and trying not make my neck worse, all while being dosed on a pretty strong muscle relaxant.   I did get a chance to finish the book I was reading though......The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.  Not a bad book!  So between my Nook and my Blackberry I had everything I needed to keep busy without moving for the day.

I did cheat a little.....this pic was taken the next day since I was not capable of holding my camera.  I suppose I could have used my phone but I didn't think of that till now :)

Day 25 A whopping -7!!!

It is warm outside!!!!  My nose hairs are not freezing inside my nostrils when I breathe and when I went out to get firewood I didn't come back in with numb fingers.

Since I could actually stay outside without getting frostbite I went to the woodpile with my camera.   First I had to take a self portrait......or at least as close to one as I will take!

Notice the sun is shining?  Next I hit wood pile.  Which is getting kind of low.....uh oh.

And now we get to my picture for the day.  Who knew wood could look so cool!

Well not the most glamorous pictures ever but at least its something other than my dinner or kids!  LOL

Day 24 Alphie

I'm  having a rough week picture wise.  Too cold to go outside and too much to do inside to get creative.  So my picture for the day came in between folding a ton of laundry and cleaning the house.

Meet my bunny Alphie.  He has decided that it is too cold to stay in his home in the porch and keeps escaping inside to lay beside the woodstove.

I swear sometimes he actually poses for the camera.  Today he was more interested in the apple I had just given him.

Be my Valentine

Will you be mine?

Day 23 Beer Stew

Not much happening in the way of pictures for today.  Possibly because I was busy grocery shopping and trying to start my van which we forgot to plug in.  Note to self.....when the temperature drops to -43 at night it's a good idea to plug in the vehicles or they will NOT start the next day.

Tonight for dinner I decided to try out Pioneer Woman's Beef Stew with Beer and Paprika.    Now being an American Ree always has some ingredients in her recipes that I can not get here in my small northern Ontario town.  This one I could do with just a small substitution of the type of beer.  Budweiser?  I don't think so......all I ever have in this house is what my husband drinks.  Molson Canadian.  So I just dumped in the whole bottle :)

I usually make my beef stew with red wine and a pre packaged club house stew mix.  This was SO much better!  I wish I had got a picture before we ate, but the kids were hungry so the picture got taken after most of the pot was gone.    This one was hard since the light on my stove gave a nice bright yellow glow to the entire picture.  Food pictures definitely work better with natural light.

My entry in The Paper Mama's 'friend' Challenge for this week.

Day 22 Cowboys

Dylan and Ty spent most of this morning playing cowboy. Running around with pretend horses and ropes and chasing each other.

Dylan asked for his picture to be taken with his hat on, reminding me that I needed to make sure the star on the hat was showing.   How's a mom to say no to that request?

2 hours later I wondered into the living room to find Ty sound asleep on the floor.  I guess playing cowboys with his big brother wore him out!

Day 21 My ovaries hurt!

What is it about having a baby come over and getting to play gets my ovaries hurting?

Don't get me wrong....I'm DONE having kids.

But this little chunky monkey 4 month old gets me every time.

His new found smile just lights up the room :)

And he works for Chocolate pudding!

Day 19 part 2 Full Moon

I already posted my pictures for the day but  I am adding an extra.   It's a full moon tonight and I wanted to go play so I grabbed my tripod after putting the kiddos to bed and went outside.

It is currently -29 degrees Celsius and my tripod is metal.  I think I may have a few parts of me that have some frost bite!   I still haven't quite perfected getting the exposure right for moon shots.  I either over expose or underexpose.  My moon usually looks like a big ball of light and I can expose for the other stuff, or my moon looks good and I can't see anything else.  So for this shot I took 2 different shots.  One exposed so I could get the details in the moon and the other so I could the details in the clouds around it.  I still think it looks a little fake, but I haven't figured out how to get to look good any other way yet.

Oh well, I froze, my fingers are still numb, but I got lots of practice bracketing and using my evaluative metering :)

Day 19 Open wide!

Ty had a dental varnish at playgroup today.  This was the first time he has been near a dental hygienist.  I was totally waiting for him to clamp down and bite the poor hygienist!

* You want to put that in my mouth?*
  * I don't know about that*

* Well I'm just going to brush this alligators teeth instead*

* Okay that wasn't so bad,  I will forgive you just because you gave me a bag full of goodies!*

In the end he did okay and we will be booking him into the dentist in the next few months for a checkup and not just a fluoride treatment.

January 18, 2011

Day 18 The poor deprived child

My poor oldest child.....he thinks life is just so unfair sometimes.

Not that anything actually happened to him.  Besides his friend not wanting to come out and play when its freezing cold out.

It really stinks when mommy doesn't play into the lip sticking out and the tears and takes your picture instead.

Well I guess I will just sulk by the window since your not falling for my pathetic attempt at crying......

Well never mind I will go back outside to play if all you are going to do is take my picture.

January 17, 2011

Day 17 Some roadside wildlife

Almost everyday I drive the same back road that leads into the little community I live in.  And almost everyday I see at least one fox sitting at the side of the road.

Today I just happen to have my zoom lens on and was driving down the road with my camera on the seat beside me.  Lucky for me I did not see just one fox about 4 feet from my van but 2!   One of them was nice enough to even bark at me to let me know he knew I was there.

This is the second one I saw about half a kilometer down the road from the first.

Day 16 Bath time!

I have always seen such nice pictures of kids playing in bathtubs and I have never been able to get mine to look good.  For years they have come out looking yellow and gross.   I have no natural light coming into my bathroom and I hate to use a flash so bath time pictures never happen.

Today I got brave and took some of Ty playing in the tub.  I won't show you the original pictures because they are less than desirable. As usual they were yellow and gross.  Thank goodness for Light Room, the ability to correct white balance issues is great!   I still don't have it perfect but with a few of my favorite actions from Paint the Moon they are a whole lot better than they started!
