Welcome to my crazy life. Once again I am attempting a 365 project, one picture every day for a year. Comments and feedback are always welcome. Thanks for stopping by :)

Day 7 Holy Blue!

This morning started out with Dylan waking up at 5am with a sore stomach, would later find out it was not just sore as he threw up everywhere.  That was at 8 am, 2 hours later he was running all over.  So instead of Bill and I canceling our trip to Timmins to get supplies to finish up the bathroom renovation we packed him up in the van and brought him with us.  He brought a bucket just in case and thankfully there was no incident in my new van.

Off we went to Canadian Tire where I purchased a new shower head (I got brown paint all over the old one) a new toilet seat ( I managed to break the old one standing on it to paint the ceiling) and new towel rods (which lucky for me were on sale!). While we were there we let Dylan pick out a colour for his room which is next on list to paint.  I was slightly worried that letting a 5 year old pick out paint would lead to a horrible wall colour, but the kid didn't do too bad.  The new colour?  Blue Streak.  And boy is it ever blue,  but he his quite thrilled that we get to paint his walls with the colour he chose :)

Thanks for looking!

Day 6 Oh where oh where did my bathroom go?

First coat of trim and door finished!  Now just waiting on that to dry and do the second coat and the bathroom will be DONE!  Hooray!  I really need the big bathroom with the shower in working order again.  Having to clear out all the painting stuff just to give the kids a bath and have a shower is a real PITA!    Dylan has asked me for three days now with a pathetic looking face when I am going to paint his walls.  I guess his room will have to be next :)

Stay tuned for a lot more reno pictures on this blog for the next little while.

Day 5 A little help

What happens when you try to paint with a 2.5 year old at home and no one else?

Ty decided that he should paint over my still wet brown walls with a brush used for white paint and his fingers.  Some one remind me to get a sitter the next time I get the urge to redecorate while Bill is working.

Day 4 Sponge painting gone wrong

Today the renovations on the bathroom continue.  I have taken all the wallpaper border off with the help of my trustee spatula (which worked better than the real scraper) and a little hot water and fabric softener. Who knew liquid fabric softener was so multi-purposeful!

I had Bill take the cabinet off the wall so I could prep for painting and found the oddest bathroom decor I have ever seen.   White semigloss with pink and blue splattered sponge paint.

Who the heck would do that to a bathroom?  Then as I was working away I discovered what was behind the sponge painting gone wrong.....  Green and yellow plaid paneling.  Okay so maybe the pink seashells I was taking off were not that bad.

I still have not decided between bright green, bright blue or brown paint.  I am sick of having no colour so I thought I could get fun with the bathroom.  But since it has no window I am worried about it looking really small.   I also want to actually finish this project in the next few days which mean I will not be replacing the vanity since Bill isn't home to help.  I thought I could paint it but discovered the doors are made of plastic....can that be painted?    I will be putting down a new floor but that one will have to wait till Bill is off.  And that also means if I get enough paint on it it will HAVE to be replaced :)

Day 3 Let the reno's begin

Last night I decided that the pink seashell border in my bathroom HAD to go.  My plan when I bought this house was to get rid of all the wallpaper room by room over the next 6 months or so.  I am starting with one of our bathrooms.  I am glad I started with the smallest room with wallpaper because it is horrible stuff to get off.   I am now dreading doing our Kitchen and living room where it is not just a border but full walls!

After doing some reading I started out with hot water and vinegar, I am thinking I may be buying a steamer in the next few days!

My tool of choice since I can not find a metal scraper anywhere?

It is working but oh what a slow process.  And VERY messy.

I figure in two more days I will hopefully have the walls ready to paint.   Any colour ideas would be appreciated since I can not decorate if my life depended on it!

Day 2 The Adventures of Stinky and Rocky

Today was a big day for Dylan, Rocky the Robot Truck got some new batteries and finally met his 'brother' Stinky the Garbage Truck.  In went the new batteries and the adventures of Stinky and Rocky began :)

Rocky the Robot Truck was the one toy Dylan asked for last Christmas and this year Matchbox came out with Stinky the Garbage truck and he just had to have it.  Thanks to Uncle Sam and Aunt Megen who searched one out since I could not find one up here anywhere.

So now the day is being spent feeding Stinky garbage to hear him fart and watching Rocky play and dance.

It also means everywhere I turn I find one of these trucks and hear it going off and talking to me with almost 200 phrases to be said between the 2 trucks.  I like the snoring best because it means they are quiet for awhile!

Day 1....starting over

Here I go again,  Project 365.  Last year I made it to May 30th, I am hoping to at least make it a little further this year!

New Year's Day 2011.  I brought in the new year with a bang.....I was in bed by 12:05 am.  After a foggy 9 hour drive with my three kids home from my sisters I was not in the mood to bring in the New Year with anything but my bed.

2010 was a good year for this family.  Although my project 365 died out at the end of May it was for a very good reason.  I got caught up in house hunting, packing and moving.  Last year brought us to buying our very first home :)  Also at the end of the year ( last week) I finally got a van that is not 10 years old!

I have a husband that is handy.....sometimes that is good and sometimes not so good.  In the case of vehicles while he can fix most things that go wrong, that also means I don't get a van that is newer or incredibly reliable because he CAN fix it.

Last week in between Christmas and New years we went shopping.  I got to drive home a shiny 'new to me' 2005 Ford Freestar.  Good thing since the speedometer on our other van is now reading this.

So my first picture of 2011 for Day 1 of hopefully 365 days is my 'new to me van' :)

Thanks for looking and stay tuned because hopefully this year I will make it through the entire year!   Wish me luck.
