Day 97 {List?}

Ever heard the saying don't go to the grocery store hungry?

I should really listen to that.

I should also not go to the store without a list in my hand.

I went in to get three things.....one of which was something for dinner.

I came out almost $60 later forgetting to buy two of the three things on my list.

And one of those things was something for dinner.

You may be wondering what I did get?

Stuff for the kids lunches, laundry soap, and a bunch of stuff I didn't' need, but I was hungry so I bought what looked good :)

What did the kids get for dinner?

Day 96 {Bike}

 Bill pulled out the boys bikes finally and Dylan decided to give his a try.   We bought him the bike last year and he tried it once and fell off and refused to use it ALL summer.  He preferred the tricycle which was more sturdy.  I guess he got brave today gave it another try, probably because the Tricycle was not out yet.  He came running in the house to tell me all about it and said "mommy I didn't fall off!"  He was so proud that he was riding his bike!  I didn't tell him that at this age Xander was riding with no training wheels....I think that make take another year for him.  For now I'm just happy he is actually riding the bike we bought him.

Day 95 {Easter}

Since we were gone all weekend we missed Easter with the kids.  They did the colouring eggs thing, finding hidden eggs and the whole bit with their cousin Holly at Nana's house.   We did leave them out a basket of goodies from the Easter Bunny the next day.  Can we say BAD MOVE!  After a very long drive the day before Ty slept in and so did Bill and I.  When I came down stairs at 9 am ALL the chocolate was gone.  Apparently my kids quietly woke up at 5 am and pigged out.  I guess I learned my lesson....do not leave the baskets sitting out since the kids see chocolate and think its an appropriate food for breakfast.

So later on we got dressed and headed back over to Bills Parents for dinner before his brother drove back down south the next day.  By the time we got home it was late again.  I set Ty down and took the other boys to bed.  When I came back down I found him sound asleep like this.

Apparently actually lying on the couch was too much work.

Day 94 {Another insert picture here}

Today we drove 9 hours back home, stopped to pick up our dog, dropped him off at home then drove another hour to go pick up the kids.   It was a LONG ride especially with a slight hangover from the night out  before.  Although considering its the first time in years Bill and I have been out together at a social event with out kids it was worth my upset stomach and headache.

So needless to say by the time we got home for good that night and unpacked the car I was not in the mood to take a picture.  I was thinking about just taking a picture on the drive but then realized I had taken all my SD cards out with the wedding pictures on them and packed them away......I didn't have anymore left :(   SO  insert a picture here.....maybe just picture a pic of me sitting in the van with my Vanilla latte from Starbucks that I enjoyed so much!  Why is there no Starbucks within 4 hours of me?  I could get used to that latte! mmmmmm  All the possibilities......okay post over need to go make some coffee:)

Day 93 {wedding day}

Today I got to "play" photographer at my friend Carrie's wedding in Ottawa. It was an absolutely gorgeous day out,  29 degrees, sunny with a nice breeze.  The pictures were all done on Parliament Hill and I had a blast taking them.  What a beautiful location for wedding pictures!

Thanks so much for putting your trust in me for the pictures Carrie.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

The rest of the day was filled with lots of excitement,  Carrie found a friend of hers to watch Ty in our room while we went out to play pool for then evening.  A night with no kids and neither one of use had to drive since the bar was within walking distance.  Its been a LONG time since that has happened.

We both had a great time out and I will state for the record that I will never again play 'girl pool'  unless I get together with Trish again........LOL.   Thanks to Sara for watching Ty for us, it was SO nice to get out kid free.  Although maybe a little less to drink next time I have to get up in the morning for an 8 hour drive back home.

Day 92 {Insert picture here}

The day started out great.....out of the house with the van packed by 8 am.  Dropped kids off at Bills mom and dads by 9 am and then on the road to Ottawa by 9:30   That should have been the worst part of the day.......

At 1:30 pm we hit North Bay, this should have been almost the halfway point of our trip.  We get to the first stop light and the van decides to act up.  We spent over and hour trying to maneuver the van through stop lights out of intersections because every time we slowed down, the engine was getting no fuel and wouldn't start.

Bill finally figures out that its the fuel filter which  any other day would not have been a problem since its a quick change that he could have easily done on the side of the road (thank goodness for a mechanical husband)  BUT it was Good Friday and everything was closed.

At this point I was starting to panic which I always do when a vehicle breaks down with me in it and a small child.  Bill on the other hand was, as always, calm as can be.   He got the van going again and once its going was fine.  We turn around and head back 4 hours the other direction to get the fuel filter from a parts van at Bill's parents house.

On the way back we saw a moose about 4 feet off the road.  Please insert picture here since I could not convince Bill to slow the van down so I could get my camera out and take the picture.  It was 25 degrees and a beautiful day out and the ditches are full of swamp grass so the moose were out in abundance.  Shortly after that we saw another group of moose, this time 3 of them even closer to the road.  They are beautiful this time of year since they are not shedding yet. Once again, no slowing down for fear of never getting the van going again.

So at about 5 pm we pull back into the driveway after 8 hours + on the road.

Bill changes the fuel filter  in less than a half hour, we have some dinner and then say our goodbyes to the kids......again.

And we are off, van is running great.  If only it hadn't have been a holiday we should have been pulling into our hotel  in Ottawa at that time and relaxing a bit before Bill went out  for a bachelor party.

We make it to North Bay with no problems and then an hour later just as it gets dark we pass 2 cars completely smashed up  and police cars already on scene.  No ambulances, so I assume we must have missed them or they were not needed (though I doubt that from the look of the cars)  We also saw the cause of the accident lying there,  insert another moose picture here,  this time not so pretty though.   Didn't get that picture either since I didn't think it was appropriate to take a picture of a dead moose on the side of a road with the police still on scene.

So Bill slowed down quite a bit for the next jaunt of our trip till we were out of moose territory.  So at 2:30 am we finally pulled into the Hotel unloaded our stuff, handed the keys to our piece of crap van to the valet and went to our room.

Ty had been sleeping since about 7:30 in the van and decided to wake up when we got there.  Apparently all the mirrors in our room were great interest at that time in the morning.  So at 3:30 we were finally all in bed.

What a trip!  And what time did Ty decided to get up at the next morning?   8 am........it was a long day!

Day 91 {my little mechanic}

Bill was outside today changing something on the van ( wheel bearing maybe?) and had to pull the tire off.  Ty decided that it looked like fun and he needed to help as well.    So him and daddy "fixed" the van ( more on that tomorrow) and I cleaned the van to get ready for our trip to Ottawa the next day.

After helping daddy with the van he got bored and thought it was more fun to play on the playset instead.
