Today was a busy day and I almost missed out on taking a picture. I went to my first photography class tonight and when I got home at 9:30 realized I had yet to pick up my camera. So as I was walking across the kitchen floor with my camera I stepped on a piece of glass. OUCH! And when I ask my husband for a band aid he complains he will miss the last few minutes of survivor man if he gets up.........seriously? Wife bleeding? Who cares if Survivor man is on! So here is a picture of my bleeding foot....no not a bad cut but I DID need a band aid! LOL
This is what happens when I go to class at night and Bill is in charge of dinner. These are my mason jars all filled with old grease from the deep fryer since Bill made french fries for dinner. They look pretty but now what do I do with them?

Day 10 {Black paper}
Today I decided to try out my black seamless paper that has been sitting in the box since Christmas. I had not tried it yet since I got it in the 9 foot roll and its HUGE, especially in my tiny little living room. So after moving around furniture and standing a love seat up on end I managed to set it up, although I was pressed up against the wall to take the pictures.
This was quite a challenge for me and I was having problems figuring out where to set the lights and how to get the black paper to look black ( which didn't happen and I ended up correcting in PS) I was also once again over exposing everything and finally packed away my speedlight and cranked my ISO after a few adjustments I managed to get a few shots. Not the greatest but I will keep practicing, though it may not be often with that paper since its so BIG!

Day 9 {practice time}
Xander spent most of the day today practicing his guitar. I really need to get him a chord book so he can practice on his own when Bill isn't home. Would have been easier if he was interested in piano so I could help him but nope...had to be gutiar. He was so proud of himself when he got lines on his fingers from practicing his G chord!

While he was practicing Dylan was playing superman.......but soon fell asleep on the couch. How he managed to fall asleep in this position I'm not sure.

Day 8 {Dentist}
Dylan had to go to the dentist today to get a cavity filled. He ended up having to have a small root canal done since the cavity was so deep. He was a trooper and handled it so well including the freezing needle :) The appointment was in the morning and he was going to go back to school for the rest of the day but after talking to his teacher I decided to take him home. His mouth was still frozen and he was starting to bite the side of it and I didn't want him chomping on it at school.
Here are a few of him at the dentist office today sporting his cool sunglasses and bib! LOL And YES Bill I did take my camera to the dentist office!

Day 6 {Follow the instructions!}
Xander got GT snow racer from Santa and it was still sitting in a box until this morning. I decided to stop waiting for bill to find time to put it together and do it myself. It started with a trip through a 4 foot snowbank to the shed to get a wrench.....and then Ty decided not to nap today and help :(

As you can see he wasn't much help.....
So an hour later after looking at the instructions about ten times trying to figure out what to do with the piece they DID NOT give instructions for, I got it all together!
Last night Bill came home with my backdrop stand that finally came in the mail! So today I decided to try it out. After a quick trip to Canadian tire to buy some clamps ( Thanks Shannon!) I was good to go. Unfortunately by that time I had lost all my good natural light and had to try out my new lights. Needless to say I got lots of shadows and have some work ahead of me figuring out how to do this right. It would also help if my children actually liked having their picture taken. Oh well they better get used to it! Here is my first attempt with continuous lights and seamless paper.

Day 5 {Last day of vacation}
Today was the last day of Christmas vacation and back to school in the morning after being off for two weeks. The boys have been crazy for 2 weeks and I think they are finally worn out. By 4 pm this is what they were doing!
Dylan passed out watching TV on the couch and Xander the NON napper lied there quietly with the remote not making a sound. After 2 long weeks I finally got some peace and quiet. Ty was upstairs having his nap as well :)
